Ordering Procedures
Two weeks before our delivery date, an email is sent to all members with the deadlines for ordering and the date of our pick-up. A reminder a couple of days before the ordering deadline.
Everyone orders via a web site with the user name and password, which is assigned upon joining the co-op. For a trial account so that you can look at the UNFI web site and catalog but NOT order, please contact Cynthia Snow, csnow2@verizon.net —
Once you have logged in, you will be able to access the products available by searching according to product description or brand (upper right corner of screen); don’t forget to hit the little magnifying glass to start the search.
To Order
NOTE: You can only place an order if you have a personal assigned account, which we will be happy to give you if you are interested in placing an order.
When you have found an item you wish to order, you can simply click the “add to order” button on the right if you wish to take the whole item (case of soup, for example). If you wish to order multiples of an item, fill in the number you want, then check the box at the far left before clicking the “add to order” button.
If you wish to split an item, then check the “split box,” fill in the number you want (e.g., 6 cans of soup from a case), and the additional number you would take to fill a case (e.g., 1 more), THEN click the box at the far left before clicking the “add to order” button.
Place your order as soon as possible, including splits that you would like. Later, check back to see if there are splits from others that you would like to participate in. To check splits, log in, click on “orders,” use the drop down menu by “users” in the top center of the screen, select “all users,” click the “filter” button and review all the splits listed (“Yes” in the split column.) If you see a split you would like to participate in, click the “add new item” button, then fill in the information in the pop-up box, and add to your order.
For help with anything on this web site, you can click on the question mark (“?”) in the circle at the upper right of the screen. There are a set of (silent) videos that will walk you through the ordering process.
During the week before the delivery date, a coordinator finalizes the splits and submits the order to UNFI.
Pick-Up and Pay
Our pick-up site is on Atherton Road, near Coolidge Corner in Brookline. An email to everyone is sent as soon as the truck has delivered our order and it’s reviewed and minimally arranged. You can pick your order up any time after that. Pick-up should be made that day or the next, longer by special arrangement if needed. There is a brown envelope in the garage that contains two copies of everyone’s order sheet. Find yours and collect your order from the boxes and from around the garage wall(s). Leave one of your order sheets with a check for your order amount.
